Show Mapleton rites Friday for Leland Oakley Leland Snell Oakley, 34, of 198 N. 3rd E., Mapleton, died Monday, October 19, 1964, at Utah Valley Hospital of a lingering lin-gering illness. He was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Springville, the son of Mark L. and Norma Snell Oakley. He was married to Helen Mattin-son, Mattin-son, June 26, 1953, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A lifetime resident of the Springville-Ma-pleton area, he was active in the LDS Church and was an elder at the time of his death. He was employed by Mountain States Telephone Co. A graduate of Springville High School, he attended BYU. Mr. Oakley was a member for. 12 years of the National Guard, was Kolob LDS Stake merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts and was interested in outdoor sports. Survivors include his wife of Mapleton; a son, Jon Bart, two daughters, Lee Ann and Lisa Lou, all at home; his mother of Springville; two brothers, Alden Oakley of Springville and Arvid Oakley in Uruguay on an LDS Mission; and two sisters, Mrs. Walt (Marion) Bigler of Monterey, Calif.; and Mrs. Kent (Julie) Barney of Spanish Fork. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, at the Mapleton Ma-pleton LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Thursday between be-tween 7 and 9 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, and prior to services at the chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Ever-green Cemetery, Springville. |
