Show party for the Sierra Bonita Club. The North siders were hostesses to the South siders. Those in attendance were Mabel Ma-bel Hansen, Iris Dibble, Louise Jensen, Blanche Tew, Larie Warren, Iva Snow, Muriel Diamond, Dia-mond, Beth Jensen, Barbara Murray, Jen Allan, Iva Snow and Rebecca Fullmer. During the evening, pictures were shown of Lake Powell. Edward Wiscombe sends word to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wiscombe that he is enjoying his assignment to the World's Fair very much. He is working at the LDS exhibit ex-hibit there. He has seen many important people while he has been there, including Governor George Romney and Elder Ezra Ez-ra Taft Benson. Mr. Benson's nephew is a missionary companion com-panion to Edward and the two of them were privileged to show Mr. Benson around the exhibit. Mrs. Mabel Hopla had her family home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hopla of Vernal and their two children came especially to attend a wedding for Mrs. Hopla's sister, sis-ter, Miss Gay Larsen. Also coming for the wedding was Mrs. Margene H. Jones of Las Vegas. She stayed several days to visit her mother. Members of the W. J. Taylor family met at Kelly's Grove, Saturday afternoon to commemorate com-memorate the eighteen birthdays birth-days of the family members in the month of May. Softball and horseshoe games were enjoyed by 29 family members and five guests. After Af-ter which a picnic lunch was served and visiting took up the rest of the evening. Family members attending were Mr. and Mrs. Luther Brake, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Taylor and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Taylor and Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett Phone 489-4837 Mr. and Mrs. Norris Binks went to Bountiful a week ago to see their new granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, born to Mr. and Mrs. Blair Binks. The baby has a sister and two brothers. Betty and Ben Rogers and their family have just returned from a week's vacation in Arizona. Ar-izona. They visited with Mr. Roger's brothers and sisters at Mesa and other parts of the state. Rhea Williams of Landers, Wyoming is staying at the home of her sister, Kathleen Nelson in Spanish Fork. She underwent major surgery at the Utah Valley Hospital a week ago. The Williams' are former resident of Mapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Johnson have had visitors from Calif. Major Leon Hales, his wife and two children from Sunnymead, Calif., spent some time with them last week. The Mapleton Firemen's Auxiliary are sponsoring a bake sale Friday, May 29, to make money for one of their projects. Their baked goods will be on sale at Sage Creek Market after 9 a.m. They will also make sales from house to house. If anyone would like to make a special request they should contact Nortica Barker, who is chairman of the sale. Mrs. John Jackson's father is ill at the Utah Valley Hospital. Hospit-al. Another Mapleton resident who has been at the hospital for two or three weeks is Bessie Bes-sie Thorn. Gordon and Idale LaBaron and their seven children of Idaho have moved into the Blaine Williams home. Mr. La-Baron La-Baron is a seminary teacher. He is here to take some special training at the BYU. They expect ex-pect to be here about two years. Louise Brammal's home was the scene, of a lovely summer family, Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Siron Shugart, Pay son; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Dowhan iuck and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carnice Cain and family, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Beardall and family and Mrs. Electa Clark, Springville. |
