Show Color can aid certain rooms The fashionable name to call the old downstairs lavatory these days is "powder room." This room attractively decorated, decor-ated, can be an important addition ad-dition to any home. Color, wallpaper wall-paper and light will do wonders won-ders for even the smallest and darkest lavatories. Larger homes often boast two powder rooms, one for women and one for men. In such cases it is effective to decorate one with a feminine air and one with a masculine air. Wallpaper may well be the keynote of design and color. If the room is small the paper pattern should not be very large. If the ceiling seems too high because of the smallness of the room, remember that a too high ceiling can be brought down by covering it with a dark color. A low ceiling can be raised with a light color. Draperies, rugs and towels make pleasing strong accents of color, and when wall paper is used, should repeat a chosen chos-en color found in the paper. When the room is large enough, a dressing table is useful as well as attractive. Anything may be used, from a table covered with a calico petticoat to the most elaborate silken affairs. A long mirror in the door is good when possible and will give an added sense of size to a small room. Triple mirrors over the basin or on the dressing dress-ing table are desirable. |
