Show I .,. .- f' ; I Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett Phone 489-4837 Mrs Eva Bird was hostess to the Mapleton DUP last Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. Martha Houtz, vice captain of the group, conducted con-ducted the meeting. The lesson called "Mormon Folklore" was given by Arlina Holley. Alice Johnson gave a pioneer story, and part of the time was spent with group singing. Mary Smart, president of all the camps in east-south Utah County was a special guest. Assisting Mrs. Bird as hostesses hostess-es were, Hannah Binks, Leila Fullmer and Lora Bird. Morris Warren, who just returned re-turned from his two years in the mission field, representing repre-senting the Mapleton Ward, will be tendered a homecoming homecom-ing Sunday, May 24 at 5 p.m. in the Mapleton Church. Elder Warren served in the Gulf States and also the North Central States, where he was second counselor to the mission president since last December. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Welby Warren, War-ren, who with their daughter Karen, drove to Minneapolis to accompany Morris home. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bird went to Concord, California last week to see their new grandson, born to Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Bird. The Birds also have a little girl about two years old. Mrs. Bird will stay in California to help with the new baby for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Allan have just returned from a week's visit to Lake Powell. They report re-port that the scenery was beautiful and the new campgrounds camp-grounds were wonderful, but the wind blew almost constantly, constant-ly, making it very difficult to do any fishing. Jack, who is living in Texas with his family. Mrs. Thales Brown of Para-wan Para-wan recently spent a couple of days with her mother, Mrs. Nellie Wiscombe. Both Mapleton wards will hold their closing socials of Relief Society next week. All the women are invited to come out and participate in this last regular meeting. During the summer months, one meeting a month will be held with something interesting and different dif-ferent being planned for each time. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox had most of their family home for the Mother's Day weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Verl Farnsworth and their children of Ogden, and Mr. and Mrs. George Cox of Santaquin and their children came to spend the day. Mr. Cox's sister sis-ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stubblefield of Mo-ab, Mo-ab, Utah, also spent part of the day with them. During the day they were pleasantly surprised with a phone call from their son, |
