Show Letter to the Editor I would like to express my opinion on this most hectic and frustrating week brought about by the TJEA, a group who claim to be so highly educated. ed-ucated. "Teach by example," has always al-ways been the plea where children are concerned. I am wondering if the teachers themselves are proud of the example that they have shown in this situation. The school year is to consist of 180 teaching tea-ching days. The past two days can hardly be considered days where proper instruction has been offered to our children. Classes have, in some cases, been kept orderly by volunteer help in the elementary schools. The nonsense that has gone on in the junior and senior high schools is another thing. These teachers have indeed broken their contract by leaving their classes without qualified people peo-ple as substitute teachers. They try to make us believe they have the interest of our children child-ren at heart and yet they turn right around and make them suffer for their action. People who go into the teaching tea-ching field should realize that they are servants of the public. pub-lic. As one of the public, I feel they have let us down. I have lost my respect for this group of people. Surely a more refined re-fined dignified way of handling hand-ling this issue could be found by educated people. How can they expect support from the public after this display? Mother of students |
