Show I Mapleton Hews Mrs. Blake Everett Phone 489-4837 Sp-4 John C. Dickerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dicker-son Dicker-son has been home on a 30 day furlough after spending 18 months in Viet Nam. John flew with a helicpoter unit in the war there, and was wounded four different times. In addition addi-tion to the purple heart, he received re-ceived the distinguished flying cross for bravery in action. This week he is to report to Fort Lewis for assignment to officer's training school. Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson met John in San Francisco at the beginning of his furlough. The ladies' auxiliary of the Provona Lodge Railroad carmen car-men and their husbands held a banquet and program in the Mapleton church recreation hall Thursday. It was a celebration cele-bration of the 21st birthday of the organization. Vera Singleton Single-ton was chairman of the party and Porter Leayitt was emcee for the following program: a ladies quartet from Spring Lake sang a number or two; Dale Evans from Lake Shore gave a reading; several electric guitar numbers were presented by Deon Fullmer, Butch Elder and Evan Chidester; a reading by Rose Marie Bowen from Payson and a vocal duet by Preston Hooper and Evelyn Allan. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Fry (the former Hannah Jean Men-denhall) Men-denhall) of Annaheim, Calif., were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth last week. They came to attend a wedding reception for his sister sis-ter in Provo. They also went to Ogden to visit her sister, Katherine Clements and her family. Den mothers for this group are: Doris Thompson, Penny Hatfield, Thelma Goble, Bonnie Williams, Helen Holley, Louise Hjorth and Vera Singleton. Preston Hooper is the Cub Master. Preston Hooper sang with the Mendellsohn Chorus in Kamas Sunday evening. They furnished the music for the sacrament service in that ward. His daughter, Vicky and Sharon Wiscombe accompanied him as well as another couple from Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Banks have had their children visiting visit-ing with them recently. Leonard Leo-nard and his wife came from California where he is stationed sta-tioned with the armed services. He is on 30 day furlough, recuperating re-cuperating from an operation. Their daughter, Penny Loback and children of Salt Lake City have also visited with them. Many former Mapleton residents resi-dents have been in town this week to attend the funeral services of Frank Jensen and also to attend the farewell services Sunday evening for Carol Lindsay, who will be leaving for the Cumorah Mission Mis-sion soon.
