Show rll uMiftf dM Student program in afternoon; public unveiling, business meet in evening The public is invited to the unveiling exercises marking the close of the April Art Exhibit, Ex-hibit, at 7 :30 p.m., tonight, Thursday, in the high school auditorium. President Omar Hansen will be in charge. The unveiling will be by the high school art queens. , Music for the evening will be furnished by the Musettes, who will present the compositions of local people, under the direction di-rection of Alberta Hoover, Glen Law, .Elaine Puckett and Minerva Mi-nerva Jesse with Oleah Sargent, Sar-gent, , Elaine Puckett, Tom Biesinger and LaDean Bird, accompanists. ac-companists. Luella Wilson, Leah Huff and Elmina Madsen will relate interesting facts about each original composition. There will be a special tribute tri-bute given . Mae Huntington and J. F. Wingate, who are retiring" re-tiring" from the art board. Following the program, there will be a meeting at which two trustees to the art board will be elected. Candidates are Paul Thorn of Provo; C. G. Salisbury Salis-bury of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Eva Bird of Mapleton and Twain Tippetts, art director at the USU, Logan. Students will hold an unveiling un-veiling program this afternoon, when the painting which has been popular with the student body will be unveiled to become be-come a part of the school's collection. A history of the art movement will be given by Mae Huntington and J. F. Win-gate, Win-gate, and the prize art essay will be read and awards made. The unveiling tonight wul mark the close of one of the most successful April shows. Not only has the new addition to the Art Building added interest in-terest and renewed spirit to the movement, but the initiation initia-tion of a new art organization has extended interest throughout through-out the community and state. This is expected to be enlarged and include more people as time advances. Indications are that the art movement in Springville is now emerging into a new era of renewed community interest which if continued could result in a big thing for this city. Attendance at the art show has equaled most years and surpassed some. The inclement weather in the forepart of the month lfcduced the number of visitors somewhat especially those who travel long distances. dis-tances. Dedication The dedication Saturday evening eve-ning was one of the finest functions of its kind in years with more than 300 people in attendance. Not only did it express the appreciation of Springville to the Clyde family for the fine addition to the art gallery, but it was a tine tribute and a commeendable gesture of this pioneer family to their parents. |
