Show J. L. Clark leads in Cedar Valley League Clark was pleased with the fielding improvement, im-provement, stopping opposing base runners to obtain their win. Pitching for Grimshaw Drilling was Brent Carter, Shaun Barnson and Mike Smith. ENOCH J.L. Clark, Inc. pulled away in the standings after two wins in Cedar Valley Recreation League play last weekend, from what had been a tight race for first place. J.L. Clark defeated Overson Farm Center 6-3 Thursday night after Clark's Kurt Maxwell had two home runs, the first of the season, and brought in three RBI's as well. Also hitting well for the winners were Paul Spencer with a double, Craig Clark with a triple and Matt Bybee with a single. Pitching was Kurt Maxwell. Wade Johnson singled for Overson's although Lance Ayers, Brendon Jones and Luke Pragle scored. Pragle also pitched. In the Grimshaw Drilling and Indian House match, Terry Price, Ryan Nelson and John Allen of Grimshaw stole home in the last inning to win 8-5. Brent Carter doubled with the only hit for the winners. Shaun Barnson pitched. Sharing the mound for Indian House was Casey Dunn and Craig Flanigan. Curt Flanigan put in a good performance per-formance with strong hitting and fielding. Coach Dave Clark praised the fielding efforts ef-forts of his team. Saturday action brought Overson Farm Center and Indian House together in which Overson's came out victorious with a 8-5 score. Ricky Webster had a no-hitter for Overson's until Indian House's last inning rally. Luke Pragle singled and Todd Johnson doubled for the winners. Forest Taylor was praised by Coach Jim Dill for his efforts in fielding. Casey Dunn pitched for Indian House; and Gene Poe, first time catcher, received praises of Coach Dave Clark. Collins Wallace had some excellent ex-cellent fielding which included a double play. Triples by Dunn and David Price, a double by Gene Poe and singles by Daniel Ryan, Carlos Clark and Dean Murie weren't enough to come back for a win. J.L. Clark downed Grimshaw Drilling 6-4 as Paul Spencer pitched for the winners. Matt Bybee doubled, and Corey Imboden singled. Steve Millet assisted on first base while catcher Jarom Tripp had a strong performance. Coach Eric |
