Show BP W honors girl Gayle Schmutz was honored last week with the Young Career Girl award from the Cedar City Chapter of Business and Professional Women. Mrs. Schmutz will take part in the Southern Utah District competition leading to the Utah State Convention to be held in St. GeorgeJune5,6and7. From there one young lady will be selected to represent Utah at the National Convention in July. Mrs. Schmutz is a certified cer-tified parent-teacher, in the ABLE Group Home treatment program. She and her husband, Spencer, administer the Cedar City branch. The other two finalists in the ' Cedar City selection were Marilyn Blanton and Deon Eva Hunt. Schmutz will represent Cedar City at the Utah State Convention in June. gave a short account of their backgrounds and goals and spoke on the subject, "Decade for Decision: Time of Action," Ac-tion," at the Feb. 11 meeting. The Young Career Girl must be under 25, of high scholastic standing and oriented toward a definite goal. She need not be a member of BPW to qualify. Tad Brinkerhoff Irom Cedar High School entertained en-tertained the group that evening with a piano number, "Malaguena," by Ernest Lecuana. It was also noted thai the local club members had completed a queen-sized queen-sized quilt to sell to raise funds for a scholarship al Southern Utah Stale College. Tickets lor a chance at the quilt can be obtained from any BPW member. |
