Show Comic opera scheduled ,, Rossini's comic opera "L'ltaliana in Algeri" I will be broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera House Saturday afternoon over the Texaco-Metropolitan O-pera O-pera Radio Network. It will be heard at noon over KGSU-FM, the Southern Utah State College radio station. "L'ltaliana in Algeri," which has not been broadcast from the Met since the 1974-75 season, will be conducted by Nicola Rescigno. Singing principal roles will be Marilyn Home, Kathleen Battle, Rockwell Blake, Sesto Bruscantini, Allan Monk, Ara Berberian and Nedda Casei. During the single intermission, in-termission, Philip Gos-sett, Gos-sett, chairman of the jmusic department at the University of Chicago will give a dramatic and musical analysis of "L'ltaliana in Algeri." Gossett is also one of the two general editors of a project to prepare new critical editions of all Rossini's works being undertaken by the Rossini Foundation, Pesaro, Italy. |
