Show Ohms wins Horseshoe competition Dennis Ohms of Cedar City walked off with first place honors in Class "D" competition in the Wahlin Memorial Horseshoe tournament held Saturday, June 21 at Murray. Competition was held in classes A through F. In picking up first place honors Ohms went undefeated un-defeated in six matches. Matches were played to 40 points. His victories were as follows: Bruce Crane of West Jordon, 43-12; Don Eksstrom of Salt Lake City 42-14; Don Quick of Salt Lake, 41-21; Art Ballingham of Ogden, 43-21; Russ Horen of Orem, 42-38, and Hans Seibold of Salt Lake City, 42-34, 42-34, for the championship. For Dennis it was the "Ohms "Oh-ms Memorial Tournament." It was his first victory in state competition and it was 17 years to the day of hi father's passing. Dennis's father was an active horseshoe hor-seshoe pitcher and taught Dennis to play. Ohms is secretary of the Southern Utah Horseshoe pitchers and they compete every Tuesday evening in the Cedar City Park. Ohms states that all are welcome to come out and join in the competition. |
