Show Lady T-birds enter Provo Meet All five of Utah's four-year track schools are expected to compete in a women's meet Saturday at Provo. "We feel that we are making some progress now that we finally have some cooperation from the weather," Ben Davidson, Southern Utah State College coach for the women, indicates. Davidson isn't predicting any team title for his Thunderbirds, but he does figure that he has three girls who are definite threats to' win some points against University competition. Theresa Versluis is still hampered by a bad knee, but could win points in the shot put. Mary Damiani is showing good improvement and could score in the 800 meters. If a sore knee responds to treatment, Chris Whetton could be a threat in the long jump and possibly in the sprints. Davison also indicates that the T-Birds are getting better performances from Ann Wiliams in the shot, Mary Bryant in the discus, and Debbie Johnson in the long jump. Last week, SUSC finished behind University of Utah and Nevada-Las Vegas in a three-way meet in Las Vegas. Damiani set a new SUSC record in the 800 meters ( 2 : 18. 1 ) in picking up the only T-Bird first place. |
