Show A gallon of what? Fdr years, newspapers have charted the soaring price of a gallon of gasoline. But few have tackled the truly tough task of putting that issue in perspective. Recently, the average cost of a single gallon of unleaded, unlead-ed, self serve gasoline was $1.17. Compare, that with some of our other leading energy sources. A dry gallon of coal costs only 17 cents, and provides even more energy than a gallon of gasoline. A gallon of fuel ready Uranium 235 costs $1,540. Garbage touted by some as the fuel of the future, now costs the county $13 a ton to dispose of. Therefore a gallon of garbage gar-bage Is worth 1.4 cents. Perfune - certainly the fuel for many romantic interludes, in-terludes, a gallon of imported import-ed 'French Joy' costs a mere $19,200. Whole blood now costs $240. . . Oxygen costs .4 of a cent in its bottled form ; A gallon of Sugar is worth $2.60; and can we forget C aviar? A gallon of beluga caviar, fuel of countless society so-ciety cocktail parties, costs a smooth $2,000. At recent $557 per ounce on the world market, a gallon of gold came to $1,029,336. |
