Show 07.0 million acres in land oifhdranal The BLM has completed the first stage of the land withdrawal review mandated ' by the Federal Land Policy and Management Act. An inventory of public lands in 11 western states was conducted con-ducted by BLM. It was determined that up to 67.9 million acres of withdrawn with-drawn lands will be subject to further review. The inventory does not. include all withdrawn lands in the 11 western states. Excluded are all public lands administered by BLM and certain lands in the national forest service which are not closed to appropriation under the Mining Law, or to leasing under the Mineral Leasing Act. Certain Indian In-dian reservations, national parks, national systems of trails, national wild and scenic sce-nic rivers, wildlife refuge systems, and other lands administered by the Fish and Wildlife Service are also al-so excluded. The inventory covers 7,911 withdrawals. Out of approximately 67.9 million acres of withdrawn land, 54.2 million are segregated from mineral location and 18.9 million from mineral leasing. Wyoming and Utah ranked first and second in the amount of land withdrawn. with-drawn.
