Show EiEiif sep 1e if ill at Mm An escapee from the Beaver Bea-ver County jail was still at large Tuesday, with law enforcement en-forcement agencies looking in the Salt Lake area. Terry E. Gilbert, 29, of Beaver and Salt Lake City, was one of eleven incarcerated incarcer-ated in the Beaver County jail last Wednesday, when he broke out, and made a clean escape. Deputy Clarence Hutchi- Gilbert, who escaped about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, went to a Beaver relative, took a pair of boots, and some food and left a blood stained note. He was evidently injured in the escape. Sheriff's officers, city police po-lice and the highway patrol immediately instigated a search but were unable to apprehend the fugitive. The jail break has been placed on the agenda for discussion along with Sheriff Sher-iff Department procedures for Friday's County Commission Com-mission meeting. son, the officer on duty had left the inmates in the recreation re-creation area, while checking check-ing on another prisoner at the Beaver Hospital. Gilbert crawled through a hole in the shower ceiling, and dropped into the booking area, entered en-tered the Beaver Police Office Of-fice and broke a window to freedom. The holes in the ceiling were cut by other inmates trying to escape several months ago. The jail break brought criticism cri-ticism of jail procedures and administration from county officials and Beaver i residents. The break was one of several in the past year. Sheriff Nelson said the inmates had been left out of their cells due to a heating problem. He said that since the break, the holes from the previous escape had been patched, and that a collapsed pipe had been replaced in the heating system to that area. He also stated that a new jail policy and procedures had been adopted, and that new revised jail standards had been incorporated from the Governor's Task Force. |
