Afton Pettey will again be in charge of flowers, Beverly Erick-son, Erick-son, Arts and Crafts; Antiques, An-tiques, Marion Walker and Mildred Yardley; Home Arts, Frieda Wood; Fine Arts, Dr. Allen and Ann Martin, and Produce and Farm crops, Bill Wood. Miriam Mi-riam Limb will be incharge of the 4-H displays. As a special attraction, all churches in the county are urged to sponsor a home arts display for the fair, with the church displays to be judged in competition with each other. It is also planned plan-ned to have the state fair display from last year set up at the county fair. . All churches, fraternal, civic and service organizations organiz-ations are invited to compete com-pete for the privilege of setting up the Beaver County booth at the State Fair this September. A special $1,000 prize goes to the winning entry, en-try, which will be judged and awarded at the county fair. To submit entries, organizations organi-zations should subm it the de - S sign for the nine foot by thirteen thir-teen foot wide booth in m inia -ture, either on paper, in detail about what you would do, or an actual m iniature of the state booth, In the horticultural horti-cultural building. The winning win-ning organization will re -ceive $1,000.00 and the right to reproduce their display at the state fair. The display should have a theme, and may be representative represen-tative of all or any part of Beaver County, or Any industry in-dustry of the county, such as agriculture, tourism, mining, min-ing, etc. There are no restrictions re-strictions on how much of the $1,000.00 must be spent on the display, and the win-ming win-ming organization accepts only the obligation to complete com-plete the display at the state fair and take it down after the fair closes. The booth is 9 x 13 feet, lighted, and has an 8 x 13 foot platform, elevated six inches from front to back. A railing is already installed. instal-led. The complete booth must be decorated and ready for judging on opening day of the state fair. The Miners -ville Betterment Club was the winner in 1977, and the Milford Business Association Associ-ation won in 1978. Beaver County's first booth was installed in-stalled by members of the fair board in 1976. Interested organizations may contact Red Wilson, P.O. Approximately 20 persons per-sons attended the meeting of the County Fair Board, May 1, to set plans for the Beaver County Fair on August Aug-ust 9-10-11. With three full days of events planned for the fair, it was decided to accept entries en-tries in all departments on Tuesday, August 7th in the evening, and to stop taking entries in home arts, arts and crafts, fine arts and all departments except produce pro-duce and flowers at 10:00 on Wednesday, August 8th. Judging on all departments except produce and flowers will begin at 10:00 a.m. that day. All displays will be at the new fair building. Entries for produce and flowers will be accepted until un-til 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Thurs-day, August 9th, with judging jud-ging immediately following, follow-ing, so that these perishables perish-ables can be as fresh as possible. A number of events have been added to keep the fair moving at a rapid pace all throughout the three days. Starting at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, there will be a community challenge race, with teams from each community com-munity competing over a 12 mile course on horseback, bicycle and jogging. Calvin Cal-vin Albrecht is chairman. At 4:30 there will be a parade down Minersville's Main street, with floats and entries from throughout the county. The parade will be followed follow-ed by a barbeque dinner, with all the trimmings, sponsored by the Miners -ville ward in the church. Jeff and Marie Marshall will be in charge. Then, at 7:30 p.m. the County Fair Queen andDairy Princess contest will be held in the church along with some local talent. Bonnie Hardy is chairman. Friday will beSeniorCiti-zen beSeniorCiti-zen day with buses transporting trans-porting senior citizens from the county for a special program pro-gram from 3-5 p.m. in the afternoon. They will be entertained at a brunch after the program. . At 6:00 p.m. there will De a io mile marathon race. Everyone is invited to enter en-ter and participate. The talent show, featuring top local talent from the county will be at 7:30 pm., featuring a tv celebrity. This will be followed at 9:00 by a dance on the tennis courts, sponsored by the Miners -ville Community Betterment Better-ment Club. Dave and Marion Robinson will furnish the music. Saturday will be kids day with a parade at 2:00 p.m. Decorated bicycles, pets, costumes and floats will be judged and awarded prizes. Scott and Grace Bealer will be chairmen. Following the parade will be kids games, races, andaminitrackmeet, at the school. Action will move back to the falrgounrds for a horse show with Rolland Yardley, chairman. The horse show will be followed in the arena by a Little Britches Rodeo, under the guidance of Bruce |
