Show lighting contest ninnnors named Christmas lighting was neither as prevalent nor elaborate as in past years due probably to two factors, the rising cost of electricity and vandalism of outdoor displays. However, the Christmas spirit was evident from the lavish decorations on the inside of many homes, exposed in many instances by huge picture windows. The Lady Lions chose the Horn Silver Hotel for the first place award in the commercial category, with the Hairpin Beauty Shop second, sec-ond, and Milford Hotel, third. Honorable mention went to the Beaver County News, Utah Power and Light and Milford State Bank. The judges also noted the beautiful beauti-ful inside decorations at the Milford Medical clinic. In the residential contest Fred Christensen took first with his display; Darrel Cox's nativity scene was second and Verda Tait was third. Honorable mention was given to Bill Wunder-lich, Wunder-lich, Sheldon Albrecht, Ron Gale, Norm Davis, Joe Duffy, Duf-fy, Dr. . Symond, Alice Thomas, Carl Thompson, Rolan Larsen and Mitch Fisher. Awards of $15.00 first, $10.00 second and $5.00 for third were given in each category. In the Milford City Historical His-torical Park Lighting Contest, Con-test, with prizes of $150.00 and $75.00, there was only one entry up in time for judging, and the overall quality fell far below the previous year. The MHS Sophomore Class of '81 will garner the first prize of ' $150.00 and second prize likely will not be awarded, as the only other entry did not meet the deadline for judging. It is very possible that the lack of interest shown in this contest will cause it to be dropped next year. The Lady Lions appreciate appreci-ate those who took the time and effort to decorate their homes and businesses. They make Christmas more special and festive for the whole community. They also thank the judges for the time spent in judging the winners. |
