He presented a copy of the audit to each board member and explained the audit in detail. The appoint -ment to audit the 1977 school year was approved. Principal Lee R. Pettey met with the Board and asked the Board to consider con-sider three alternatives to meet the problem of Florence Flor-ence Hiatt's being absent from school due to illness of an extended nature. A. Consider employing a teacher to finish Mrs. Hiatt's contract; B. Employ a teacher for the first semester only; C. Leave Mrs. Kerr on as an aid and employ another an-other aid to help at the school. The Board considered the matter and asked the Supt. to review the matter and handle the situation the best way he can. Michael Nowers, Julie Hutchings and Rodney Brad-shaw Brad-shaw met eith the Board representing the Beaver High Rodeo Club. They said that the dues for the State and National Club associations associa-tions come to $21 each and they asked the Board to pay perhaps $11.00 of the dues. Haslem presented a schedule of ability testing test-ing that is to be carried out in the schools of the district. He informed the Board that he andDr.Crook visited the Industrial School in Ogden one day last week in connection with involvement of some of our students there. A review of the program was explained to the Board. Supt. Haslem recom -mended that Counselor El-don El-don Stoker, two Board mem -bers or other school personnel, per-sonnel, and a District representative rep-resentative attend the Career Ca-reer Education Training Conference in Houston, Texas Tex-as under a special program sponsored and funded primarily pri-marily by the U.S. Department Depart-ment of Education. The Board approved being represented rep-resented at the conference and left the details to be worked out by the superintendent super-intendent stipulating that the superintendent be responsible re-sponsible to see to the in -tegration of the program into our schools. The Supreme Court of the United States decision of June 24, 1976, which rendered ren-dered a decision that school districts and municipal governments were not required re-quired to pay time and one -half for overtime or meet minimum hourly labor standards was reviewed by the Board. It was moved to pay dues to American Ass'n. of School Administrators and Utah School Boards Ass'n. |
