Show Bea Oxl cy narcad IVcian of Year At a surprise tea last Tuesday, Sept. 7, Mrs. Bea Oxley was named BPW Woman Wo-man of the Year. The honor is given only occasionally when the organ -ization feels a member or other local lady has devoted herself to the com m unity and civic projects to warrant it. Mrs. Oxley was born in Nephi and graduated from BYU Normal School. She taught at Sterling, Columbia, Colum-bia, Nephi and Provo before marrying Floyd Oxley in Provo. They moved to Milford where she resumed teaching, teach-ing, and retired in 1971. She is a 40 -year member of the BPW, and has held every office, including regional re-gional and district offices. Mrs. Greta Bower, state president elect, was on hand with six of her sister officers. of-ficers. Mrs. Oxley's sister, Evelyn Lamax of Nephi, also was present. Mrs. Oxley has been active ac-tive in the Republican Party and in church activities. She has one daughter, Amanda. There were approximately 35 in attendance at the elementary ele-mentary multi-purpose room. Mrs. Mary Wiseman and Veda Cox were hostesses. hostess-es. Mrs. Wiseman read a prepared history upon awarding the honor. Mrs. Oxley was presented with a bouquet of flowers, crystal candy dish and a BPW charm. |
