This support is very much appreciated. Total sales for the 36th Annual Southwest Livestock Show held in Cedar City Friday andSaturday were up, primarily through higher prices paid for fat hogs and for breeding sheep, according accord-ing to a report by Neil K. Boyter, secretary. Total sales in the fat stock division and in the breeding sheep sale amounted to $69,478.46, slightly less than $2,000 below last year's record rec-ord sales, Boyter indicated. The big jump in sales came in the Ram Sale, held in conjunction con-junction with the show where, 106 Rams sold for $20,905.-00, $20,905.-00, or an average of $197.22 per head. Last year the average ave-rage was $98.89 per head for 131 head for a total of $12,-955.00. $12,-955.00. Total entries were down this year, Boyter reported, from 391 to 347, but the big jump in Ram Sales and the increase in Hog prices more than compensated for the reduced re-duced number of animals and the slightly lower prices paid for fat steers and lambs. State Bank of Southern Utah was one of the top purchasers pur-chasers at the show with $4,922. Other top buyers were Zion Bank of St. George, $2,680; Alex Williams, Cedar City, $2,340; Lewis Ence, Cedar City, $2,250; Lins Foods of Cedar City and St. George, $1,813; Atkins Sugar Loaf Cafe and Roadway Inns of Cedar CityandSt. George, $1,837, Dixie State Bank of of St.- George, $1,751, and Town and Country Restaurant, Restau-rant, $1,935. |
