Show THE STATE OF UTAH WATER HEARING SET The Utah Board of Water Resources released on November No-vember 17 a draft report on critical water issues and proposed recommendations for action. The report, "The State of Utah Water - 1975" will be the subject of public hearings held throughout the State, December 2-5, according ac-cording to announcement by Edward H. Southwick, Chairman. Chair-man. Major recommendations of the Board of Water Resources Resourc-es include construction of a reservoir on the White River to develop water for oil shale and Indian irrigation, construction con-struction of a reservoir on the Lower Fremont River to supply water for agriculture and thermal power, and support sup-port for a multi-purpose reservoir res-ervoir on the Virgin River. The Board recommends that the Revolving Construction Fund, used to finance small water development projects, be expanded to permit projects pro-jects up to $20 million. The Board of Water Resources Re-sources in the report reaffirmed reaf-firmed support for the Bonneville, Bon-neville, Upalco, Jensen, and Uintah Units of the Central Utah Project, but recommended recom-mended extensive revision of the Ute Indian Unit plans. The Board called for more State participation in plan formulation formu-lation and schedulingof Central Cen-tral Utah Project design features. fea-tures. Public meetings to discuss this report are scheduled for: December 2 -Richfield, 9:00 a.m., Utah Power and Light Co. Auditorium; and Cedar City, 3:00 p.m., Wildlife Resources Re-sources Building Auditorium. |
