The double-headers shortened the season by nearly a month and will give the all -stars nore chance to polish their fielding and hitting hit-ting before the tourney later on. The weeks play saw the Mets topple the Jets last Wednesday, 23-4, with Dar-rin Dar-rin Malchus pitching for the M ets and David Barnes for the Jets. Curtis Banks hit a home run.
