There were many floats entered. Those winning win-ning the prizes were: Patriotic; Patri-otic; 1st Place, Pryors; 2nd, Rita Hugh's 4-H Club: Beauty; Beau-ty; 1st, Pri mary; 2nd, Re-ma's Re-ma's Beauty Salon: Originality; Origin-ality; 1st, Dona Carter's family; 2nd, D & W Merc. Honorable Mention: Thane and Tranla Marshall, James Davis and Ellen Wood, Harold Har-old Hardy and Iris Willyard, Indians and horses; and Sherwin Wood as the Clown. The' program held on the school lawn was entertaining. entertain-ing. Included was the presentation presen-tation of the flag, entrance of the Goddess of Liberty and her attendants, the pledge of Allegiance was recited, and the Star Spangled Banner was sung. A prayer was given by Dan Goff. The song, "Stout Hearted Men", was sung by Milton Albrecht, Chad Hol-lingshead Hol-lingshead and Russell Al brecht. Other entertainment of the day included; tap dance by Carolyn Gillins; song, "Let There Be Peace on Earth" sung by Carla Eyre, Merle Gillins, Eleanor Marshall, Vie Marshall, Marybelle Eyre and Connie Marshall; Reading by Janiele Dalton; song, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" by the Little Leaguers; twirling group under the direction of Ta-Mara Ta-Mara Payne, with Evelyn Keener as solo twirler; song, "Yankee Doodle Boy" by Ricky Williams; Toasts given giv-en by Devota Heslington and Rex Brown; song by Singing Mothers; prayer by Kent Marshall; 'Hurrahs' for the Goddess of Liberty and the retirement of the colors. The luncheon served at noon was very delicious and enjoyed by a large crowd. The afternoon was spent in sports for everyone. Wednesday Wed-nesday night a dance on the cement In front of the school was attended by a large crowd. David Robinson's group provided the music. Thanks Is again given to all who helped in any way to the success of the day. |
