Show ForVJosf Closes, Finn Doved To Beaver City Bob Orton, manager of the Beaver and Mllford operations of Far West Garments stated that even though' the Industry expects a normal slowdown this time of the year, this was not the reason for closing the Mllford operation and moving machines and operators oper-ators to Beaver. He said that lack of sufficient suffi-cient employees was the real culprit. TheMllfordoperation had a big order on a complicated com-plicated cut, but were unable to keep up. Though the employees em-ployees did their best, there Just were not enough of them and no more could be found. 10,000 units of the cut had to i be sublet to another contractor, contract-or, he said. Orton said all Mllford employees em-ployees had been offered jobs In the Beaver operation. He emphasized that those who have benefits coming will receive re-ceive them. The future of the Mllford operaton lay with the management manage-ment of Far West. He said that the president and another company official would be In Beaver and Mllford this week to discuss the situation with local groups. A meeting was scheduled Wednesday with the Mllford Industrial Foundation. He said that due to the limited lim-ited number of operators available, reopening of the Mllford plant would depend on the acquisition of simple cuts and styles. |
