The home on 100 East and Center Street was a total loss. The Skougards and their two children were all home, in bed, when the fire broke out. Mr. Skougard had just gotten off work at Essex shortly before and had not noticed or smelled smoke when he went to bed. When the fire woke the Skougards, they were able only to save their children from the other bedroom. Cause of the fire was not yet determined at press time. They were unable to save anything more man the nlghtclothes they were wearing when the fire broke out. The importance of acquiring adaptors for each fire plug was made acutely aware, when the Dept. lost valuable time getting hooked to the hydrant. Councilman Hardy was authorized to purchase the adaptors over a year ago. |
