Show Flash Flood Inundates Minersville Town, Area RaiiT-dav at S-Si n.m. h f'ky opened and all the precipitation precipita-tion within miles fell on Minersville, Min-ersville, flooding basements, cutting holes in lawns, filling irrigation carals and tearing out fences. Two and twenty hundreths inches of rain fell within a fortyfive minute period, and an o'd fashioned desert flash flood was in store for the residents resi-dents of Minersville. Rain that hit the surrounding surround-ing hills, cascaded dow.n th hillsides and jumped over and filled the flood control ditches crossed highway 21 and proceeded pro-ceeded to the Beaver River where it really raised havoc, tearing out fences, blocking the channel in a couple of places and changing the course o: the river. Reports are that a few calves were lost, a.nd two or three bales up in stacks of hay were lost. Ty Gillins estimated his loss at about a thousand bales, The water entered several crossing the road into town, it was estimated that there was 4H00 sec. ft. of water traveling down the channel. It only took a few hours to travel down to the Milford flat reaching the Goodwin place before p'-ing. The first time in man'- years that the river had flawed that far. Water entered the Minersville Miners-ville grade school, and at press time it was not known the extent ex-tent of the damage. It was thought here would be no delay de-lay in the opening of school on Monday, Aug. 30. A down pour later in the evening in the west mountain i from Milford caused washouts c.n the Lund road and other reads in the area. Lakes were left west of the railroad tracks to soak in and dry up.
