Show PONY EXPRESS DAYS SET FOR TWO WEEKENDS Top race horses from throughout the Intermountain West will be off and running during the Annual Pony Express Ex-press Days, Aug. 21-22 and 28-29 in the Eastern Nevada community of Ely. This is Nevada's oldest continuous con-tinuous horse racing event, now going into its 37th year of providing outstanding horse racing excitement for racing fans. Each of the four racing days will feature at least 10 big races, including a daily feature event such as: the Ninth Annual An-nual Great Basin Thorobred Futurity for two-year-olds; the Eighth Annual Great Basin Thorobred Derby for three-year-olds; both with $500 added add-ed purses; the Nevada Governor's Gover-nor's Handicap with a $1,000 added purse and the 10th An- nuai Pony Express Allowance. The new parimutual betting booth, constructed at the White Pine County Fairgrounds in Ely last year, has greatly expedited ex-pedited '.he placing of bets and claiming of payoffs. And to add to the fun, patrons pa-trons can try their luck at picking the "daily double." The Pony Express Days' races are annually sponsored by Ely Elks Lodge 1469. |
