Approved the MHS marching group going to Duchesne Du-chesne at the time the basketball basket-ball team plays its practice gam ; there. Commended Michael Carter Car-ter for his plans for bleachers at the Beaver Football Field which won a superior rating at the SUSC vocational day. Moved that bids be let for carpeting in two rooms at MHS, two at BHS, two in Minersville and one in the Milford Elementary. A group of B.averiles callirig themselves the BUS Gym Committee met with the Beaver Beav-er County Board of Education on May 5 to discuss building a new ,gym for Beaver Hih School. The committee w.i.s composed of McKay Farrer. representing Beaver American Legion Post 32; Michael Robinson, Rob-inson, Jaycees, Al'a Paicp, PTA Dick H. Davis, Braver Lio.ns: Nella Black. Beaver JC Janes; Margaret Miller, Belknap PTA; and Lenore Swindlehurst representing rep-resenting the B aver EPVV. Dick H. Davis was the spokesman spokes-man o! the gtoup. He said that since the school district had paid off its bonds and was in, good financial standing, the group felt that the board should consider further fur-ther school buildi.ng needs of th district. He stated that th3 group meeting that day were acquainted with the needs in Beaver City and they felt that a new gymnasium was needed for Beaver High. When asked if they were prepared to bond to build a new gym In both ends of the county, he stated that Milford has building needs too, but that this committee was not competent to determine and recommend needs there, but would support the board for a building program there. He said that the group realizes real-izes that it is the responsibility responsibil-ity of the Board to determine the needs in the disiict, and that his group was here to ask that they co.nsider a gym for Beaver High. EDITORS NOTE: Members of the School Board are meeting with the Milford Better Schools Committee in a public pub-lic meeting at MHS at 8:00 p.m. cn Friday, May 21. The public is invited. The Board met with student body officers and principals of Milford and Beaver High. The group discussed dress standards stand-ards at great length. The board acquainted the young people with the activities and responsibilities of the board, financially and legally. The students asked questions of the board regarding its actions and |
