Show 'PAPERHANGER' VISITS MILFORD; LANDS IN JAIL A "paper hanger" plied his trade in Milford last week, and is now in the Beaver County jail awaitng sentence for forgery. for-gery. Herman Skaggs, 29, of Ohio, was arrested by City Marshal Floyd Bedingfield last Friday and arraigned before Judge E. L. Smith after forging signatures sig-natures and cashing checks at two Milford business establishments, establish-ments, and endeavoring to cash a forged check at the Milford State Bank. He forged the signature of "L. Mayer" on a $40 check cashed at the White Market, and a $50 check at Jefferson Mercantile Co. with the signature signa-ture of Wayne Wiseman forged. Endeavoring to cash a forged check on Mr. Wiseman at the bank, authorities were alerted and Mr. Bedingfield made the arrest. Sheriff Mel Tait said he pleaded guilty in District Court Wednesday to forging the check cashed at Jeffersons, and is being held pending a pre-sentencing probation report. |
