Show OBSCENE VANDALS DEFACE BRIDGE; REWARD OFFERED FOR ARREST "A man's ambition must be mighty small when he writes his name on an outhouse wall." That admonition was frequently emphasized by school teachers and others, back in the days when indoor plumbing plumb-ing was a rarity and teens and older guys liked to let other users of the outhouses know that "Kilroy" had been there. Milford doesn't have any more outhouses they were outlawed by ordinance a gocd many years ago, so Mil-ford's Mil-ford's teens have turned to using spray-can paint and defacing highway bridges in the area; not with names but with obscenities. If the culprits are caught it will mean a heavy fine The State Road C ommission offers a $200 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone defacing, damaging cr destroying highway signs, bridges, abutments, or other State Road property. And $200 is a lot of loot. Perhaps it will appeal to some of the youngsters, and lead to arrests and convictions. convic-tions. In the past year the State Road special sandblast crews have twice removed obscenities from a bridge near Milford, at a cost to Utah taxpayers of around $200 each time. Now the vandals have again been busy with their spray cans, defacing bridges, and costing the taxpayers another $200 that could have been spent in highway improvement. Let's hope these vandals are caught and severely dealt with by the courts. |
