Show CANCER DRIVE TO BE CONDUCTED HOUSE TO HOUSE NEXT THURSDAY The annual house-to-house canvass for Cancer Drive funds will be conducted by ladies of the Rebekahs on Thursday, April 10, according to Mrs. D'x;e Larnb, West Beaver County Crusade Chairman. Mrs. Vilate Lang is West Beaver County Unit Charman. "About 1,500,000 Americans are walking around today as VIsible proof that the war aganst cancer is being won " Mrs. Lamb said. "This figure is most encouragin- to the American Cancer Society which has been striving to educate the public to the value of re-ular physical checkups." Pointing out that cancer often can be overcome over-come through early diagnosis and prompt treatment, Mrs. Lamb said that the figure of 1,500,000 ex-cancer patients had increased over the most recent total by 100,000. With the emphasis of this year's April Cancer Crusade on efforts to get all Americans, men and women, to see their doctors for regular check-ups during the year the chances are excellent that the number of cancer-cured cases would rise again in the next few years. This year's April Crusade Cru-sade slogan, Mrs. Lamb said, is "Help yourself with a checkup check-up and others with a check.'' |
