The Beaver City Fire Dept. requested some $13, 000"' over a three -year period, to purchase pur-chase a new truck and other equipment and build a new fire hall to house three trucks, drying dry-ing racks and a meeting, hall. Previously the, 'stand-by fire' has had $2500, divided $800 each for Milford and Beaver City, $400 for Minersville and $500 for the rest of the county. After considerable discussion Jefferson Jeffer-son moved that the 'stand-by fire' be raised to $5,000 with $1,000 to Milford, South Milford, Mil-ford, and Minersville, and $2,000 to the Beaver City Department. The impasse im-passe was made possible due to the absence of Commissioner Eyre, who was in Salt Lake City where his wife was in the hospital. A special meetingwill be held Dec. 14 at 10:00 a.m. to resolve the issue and adopt the budget. The Commission had already approved some $6,000 for the 5-County Health and Social Services Ser-vices Dept. and other 5-County budgetary items. The impasse came over the dues portion of $2,024.00, which was brought about when the 5-County 5-County AOG exceeded Federal and State funding for their fiscal fis-cal year. Jefferson said, "What are we buying for this money, besides a big payroll in Cedar City and Iron County?" Harris said, "Look at all of the services they're providing." Jefferson stated, "What services? ser-vices? All we are getting is what we've always had, mostly in health and social services, " only now it's headquartered in Cedar City with 10 times the payroll, but we're getting less, not more." "Besides, he said, Health and Social Services is funded separately." Jefferson said he would consider paying the $2024.00 if one -third were billed to the school board and one -third to the municipalities "who are receiving all of the services." The $2024.00 was part of an $18,000 over expenditure billed to the counties. Total administrative adminis-trative budget exceeded $60,-000. $60,-000. They had already approved over $6,000 for Health and Social So-cial Services, part of the $176,-174.53 $176,-174.53 total health budget for 1974, of which over $126,000 is salaries and fees. Jefferson stated, "As state and federal funding is phased out, the cost to the counties is going to be much greater. I think we should chop it off, before the taxpayers are obligated beyond their means." timated that if the county participated par-ticipated in tlie rest of the county coun-ty as requested in Beaver, tlie cost would approach a quarter million- Itw&e-eW-a-fee4-i&ue--in the county would fail. Plan-ning. Jefferson asked if Beaver City had given the county a firm figure or' power for the new court house. The architect's estimate was $11,500 per year at Beaver City's rates, while at UP & L's rates, it would be approximately $2,000 per year with electric heat. Jefferson Jeffer-son said he wanted a guarantee from Beaver City that the rate would be competitive or he felt they should look for another site for the courthouse. |
