Show MILFORD ART GUILD HAS SALT LAKE CITY ARTIST The Milford Art Guild has completed five davs 'f ins'ruc-tion ins'ruc-tion t'om Mrs. LaVonne Best of Salt Lake City. Ten members mem-bers participated in the instruction. instruc-tion. Plans for the local art show are being finalized and will be announced shortly. After attending Saint Marv's cf the Wasatch, LaVonne Vincent Vin-cent Best entered the University of Utah, where she studieed under un-der the tutelage f J. T. Har-wond. Har-wond. known as one of the finest fin-est Utah artists. She studied at Paris, France at the school of Andre L'Hote. While in France she had a one man shrw at the Galorie Carmine in 1936 and received commissions to paint portraits of several famous people. After returning to the U.S. her paintings won .numerous awards. She began to diversify and do landscapes and still in several media. She received her masters degree from USC in 1940. She was active in the San Fernando Valley Art Assn. while in Calif. Since returning to Utah in 1952 she has been active in Salt Lake City conducting a school of painting for several years. |
