Show BOARD DENIES STATEMENTS IN BEAVER PRESS Approximately 20 ladies from the DUP met with the Board and Alta Hickman, acting as spokesman, expressed opposition opposi-tion to the Courthouse being torn down. They said it was reported in the Beaver Press that a secret decision had been made to destroy the building. , At this point, the ladies were informed that no decision had been made to remove the courthouse, court-house, and that as long as the present Board members were in office, it would not be removed. re-moved. Margerey Mackrell presented her views toward keeping the courthouse and a lengthy discussion dis-cussion followed. It was felt by the Board that the courthouse should be kept as is, and that plans for a new building be started. If and when a new courthouse court-house is built the present building could be turned over to the DUP and they would have control over it. The Bureau of Land Management Manage-ment met with the Board and discussed solid waste disposal. When a program becomes available, avail-able, they will contact the County and set up a meeting to work out a program. The County Attorney was authorized au-thorized to renew contracts for Beaver County Fire Protection between Beaver, Milford and Minersville cities for a period of five years. The Commissioners increased by $2,393.00 the budget for salaries sal-aries and adopted the budg?t for 1973, giving raises to all county employees and elective offices. |
