Bliss presented thct blueprints from the architect that represent the design phas3 of the planning for the gymnasiums. gymnas-iums. He explained changes in the design since the board examined ex-amined the plan. Minor changes were adopted for the band loom and instrument storage. Mr. Reed Burroughs, representing repres-enting the Utah Power and Light Company met with the beard. He asked that the board, consider using electric heat in the new gymnasiums. He said that the rate was 1.2c per kilowatt kilo-watt and there is no demand charge. Supt. Bliss reviewed tha proposals for change in the 5chcol finance laws of the state. The Legislature has acquired the services of Dr. Percy Bur-, nip, of BYU to study school finance fi-nance and come up with some recommendations. Bliss said, under the Burrud plan the district would gain ab:ut S100.000 for maintenance and operation purposes under the formula, but would lose about 330.000 in the district for exceptional children while gaining S9.000 i.n vocational funds. He noted that a compromise had been made in measuring tile average daily attendance. The ADA . plus the average daily membership, divided by two equaJs a new term ADX. ADX will replace ADA as the basic number in the school finance fi-nance formula. The board discussed the liability lia-bility connected with construction construc-tion of the new Lee's Store on the south of the BHS grounds. They wanted the owner and contractor to take adequate s'eps to protect the users of th? sidewalk and the board from any liability from an accident that could occur on the sidewalk side-walk adjoining its property. The Board authorized Principal Prin-cipal James Briggs to purchase trees needed for Milford Elementary. Ele-mentary. The Board voted to sell thtl 1956 International school bus to the highest bidder. |
