Show JANUARY 31 IS FINAL DATE TO APPLY FOR MERCHANT MARINES Congressman Laurence J, Burton and Senator Wallace F, Bennett have both announced that January 31 is the deadline for accepting nominations of candidates for the next school year at the U S Merchant Marine Ma-rine Academy. Congressman Burton and Senator Bennett are each entitled to nominate 10 qualified applicants. The Merchant Marine Academy Acad-emy has as its mission the education ed-ucation and training of qualified quali-fied young men for careers as officers in the Merchant Marine. Ma-rine. Its four-year college level program leads to a B.S. degree, a U S Coast Guard license as a Third Officer or a Third Assistant As-sistant Engineer In the Merchant Mer-chant Marine, and a Commission Commis-sion in the Naval Reserve, Applicants desiring further information should -contact Sen.
