By the Journalism Class f Milford Hign School Mrs. Mary McCulley, Instructor THE SOUND OF MUSIC "The Sound of Music" rang through the auditorium Wednesday Wed-nesday as Delta High presented present-ed their traveling assembly to the M H S student body. Emceed by Dick F.irnaivorth, Delta's student body president, presi-dent, the assembly was opened by an all-girl sextette which introduced their theme in song. A girls' chorus, all nicely attired at-tired in look-alike dresses, opened the show in a medley of harmony. Two girl trios fitted their voices into some broadway hit tunes. A lovely soprano by an other member of the girls' chorus sang a medley of songs of April in her many and unpredictable facets. Something that we haven't heard in a good while, an accordion ac-cordion duet, added mellow but spicy tones to the spiri of the music. A hilarious diversion di-version from the musical side of the show came in the form of a pantomime by two boys. ments offered by the Seventh Grade. The results of the final fi-nal election were announced, and the large percentage of students that attended seemed to have an enjoyable time. SENIOR DANCE The Class of '63 will hold their Senior Dance this Friday night in the gym. This dance will be based on the "Best Twisters in Beaver County." As an added attraction there will be a trophy awarded to the best boy and girl twisters. The school Combo will furnish fur-nish the music for twisting. We want to invite all twisters twist-ers who are interested in winning win-ning a trophy for their efforts of twisting, to this unusual - dance. SENIOR CAR WASH The Senior Class held their final car wash last Saturday. They manned their posts at 10 and washed until they ran out of cars. They did not have as many cars as the previous car wash, but they did an excellent excel-lent job on them. NEW EXPERIENCE The Seventh Grade had a new experience Friday when they presented their first assembly as-sembly to the student body. This assembly is just one of the many assemblies whic'.l they will have to present to the student body during their years of school. This, their first assembly, proved to be very successful. They started out with the students' stu-dents' impression of the Seniors Sen-iors when they're in their first period class with Mr. Long. Then from there, they went on with the rest of their talent. . All in all, the assembly wasi very good and the class did a fine job. They very skilfully acted out the antics of a bashful boy on a date with an all-but-shy girl. A trio of folk singers put a very different and pleasant dash in the type of music presented pre-sented by the chorus. A mixed chorus brought the show to a brilliant finale with "Battle Hymn of the Republic." WTe would like to compli-1 ment the Delta students, not only on their performance, which was excellent, but their fine manner and dress. To the whole group goes a sincere invitation to come again very soon. ATTENTION . . . PROSPECTIVE CHEERLEADERS All hopeful hurrah girls take notice. Tryouts for both varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders will be held on April 26. Anyone who wishes to try out should start planning plan-ning the gestures they will use in leading the cheering of the student body. Those who are running for varsity cheerleaders cheerlead-ers will also be able to compete com-pete for main cheerleader. VOCATIONAL DAY VS. MODEL U N s Many of the students at M H S have been split between be-tween two desires: Vocational Day and Model U N. Vocational Voca-tional Day for Business, Art, and Industrial Arts classes has meant preparing students for competition in Cedar, April 20. Model U N is on the same day. Members of both activities activi-ties have been chosen and despite de-spite the size of our student body, all participating members mem-bers are excellently qualified for their competition.
