Show OH DADS ORDER TREES FOR TRIE ON MAIN STREET Twenty excelsior ash tree have been ordered by the City of Milford for test planting? to replace trees recently removed re-moved from parkways between sidewalks and curbs on Main Street. Last year the city started removing re-moving shallow-rooted trees and rebuilding the cracked and broken sidewalks, and many complaints have been received since the tree removal program was begun. After checking with Utah State University officials of-ficials and the county agent, the City Dads agreed to test the excelsior ash tree which was recommended as a deep-rooted deep-rooted tree which will not crack sidewalks and will not grow tall enough to interfere with power lines along the street. A different tree, probably a linden, which offers more shade, will be planted along other Milford streets which , do not have power lines at the curb. The ash trees, six to 10 feet tall, will be offered residents at $3 each if they prove satisfactory. satis-factory. The city council emphasized that no resident will be permitted per-mitted to plant trees along the street unless they have previously pre-viously been approved by the city dads as a "satisfactory" tree. |
