Show Young Men Must Register for Selective Service at Age 18 Colonel Evan P. Clay, Utah state Director of Selective Service, Ser-vice, reminds all young men that under the Universal Military Mili-tary Service and Training Act they must register with Selective Selec-tive Service within 5 days after reaching their I8th birthday and that they rnust have in their personal possession at all times a valid, unaltered registration regis-tration certificate - issued by one of the Selective Service Local Boards. Membership in any of the reserve components of the armed forces, including the National Guard, does not excuse a man from registering when he reaches age 18. Late registration, or no registration at all, is a criminal violation and can subject a young man to immediate induction, heavy fines, or possible imprisonment. imprison-ment. There are several ways in which a young man can fulfill his military obligation other than waiting to be inducted by Selective Service. Help and guidance along these lines is available at any Selective Service Ser-vice office. |
