Show High School Day at U of U Designed to Please Seniors High school seniors from throughout the state will gather gath-er on the University of Utah campus Sept. 30 to get a preview pre-view of college life. Usually held in the spring, the annua' event was changed to fall this year to enable seniors sen-iors to "get their feet wet" with a look into the crystal ball of higher education. Although sponsored by the University of Utah, the "get acquainted with college" event is designed for all high school seniors, no matter what college they plan to attend. Its purpose pur-pose is to acquaint students with the opportunities to be gained from higher education. The big "Day" will start at 2 p. m. with registration and a welcome message from University Uni-versity of Utah President A. Ray Olpin. Highlight of the event will be the evening clash of the University of Utah and University of Oregon gridders in Ute Stadium. Sandwiched between these events will be an afternoon of informative instruction, counseling, coun-seling, a free buffet dinner, fraternity, sorority and ROTC open houses, and a jazz concert. con-cert. Admission to the football foot-ball game is free to attending high school seniors. Counseling on both group and individual levels will be available to seniors interested in almost any field imaginable, including the fine arts, business busi-ness and its many facets, education, edu-cation, engineering, physical education, law, medicine, nursing, nurs-ing, pharmacy, science, mathematics, mathe-matics, and others. University professors will answer questions concerning university life, what to expect from it, contribute to it, and how to make the most of it. |
