Show New Volume Ready on Rise of Communism (By American Legion News Service) The House Committee on Un-American Un-American Activities, which has received continuous active support from The American Legion from the time of its inception in response re-sponse to Legion request, has published the first volume of what it hopes will be one of the most comprehensive studies of communism ever undertaken. In telling of the projected encyclopedia en-cyclopedia on The American Legion's Le-gion's bitterest enemy, Rep. Francis Fran-cis E. Walter (D., Pa.), chairman of the committee, said: : "Ignorance of communism is our greatest weakness in today's struggle with the Communist conspiracy." The first volume, which consists of 135 pages, deals with Communist Commun-ist ideology. Succeeding volumes are planned to cover the rise of the Communists to power in Russia, Rus-sia, the establishment of the Soviet So-viet regime, the expansion of Communism outside of Russia, and the methods used in achieving this expansion. Work began two years ago on the encyclopedia, which is entitled en-titled "Facts On Communism," and several more years will be required re-quired for its completion, Congressman Con-gressman Walter said. The committee's research staff is working with specialists on the subject in compiling each of the volumes. |
