Show Fillmore Takes Top I Gold Medal Honors The casaba artists from Fillmore Fill-more walked off with top honors hon-ors in Milford's annual Gold ' Medal tournament, defeating Parowan for top honors in the final- game last Saturday. The score, 47-44, is indicative of the dig-dong battle that was waged throughout the entire game. Minersville defeated Beaver for the consolation championship champion-ship in another thriller that wound up 37-35, and the B & J Club dropped Zeke Hickman's Western Clubbers in the other game. Final tourney standings was Fillmore, Parowan, B & J, Minersville, Min-ersville, Beaver, and Western Club. An entry from Delta was eliminated in the second round. 65 awards were presented, including the following individual individ-ual awards: Outstanding player Paul Jones, Fillmore, first; David Or-1 Or-1 ton, Parowan, second. First all-tourney team: Jim Cox Delta; Paul Jones; David I Orton; Wayne Gillins, Minersville, Miners-ville, and Vee Wadsworth, ot Beaver. . Vee Wadsworth, high points for the tournament (57); Jim Cox, high point for single game (27). ' Lee Gillins of Minersville won the sportsmanship trophy, with second place going to Joe Marshall of Milford, and third to Tom Dobrusky, Parowan. |
