Show of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Marhall; and Richard Allen Kelsey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kelsey. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowcutt and daughter Colleen of Elko, Nevada are spending several weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Eyre. 1 his back last week and has had to make regular trips to Cedar City for treatment. Kent Limb, working with the Wood brothers on the ditcher, almost al-most lost the end of his finger in the course of his work. The finger was badly crushed. Quite a number of young people from Minersville attended the Beaver Bea-ver Seminary party Friday evening, eve-ning, held at the picnic grounds of the Seminary teacher, Bishop Walter Wal-ter Kerksiek. Volley ball was played, followed by a typical outdoor out-door lunch. LDS Sacrament meeting Sunday evening was under the direction of Earl Limb, a member of the ward bishopric. Speakers were Mrs. Marybelle Eyre and Evan Nielsen, the latter an instructor at Beaver High school. A musical number featured David Pryor, who sang I "He," accompanied by Larry Hol-lingshead Hol-lingshead on the piano. Young boys advanced to the office of deacon dea-con in the Aaronic priesthood were Clark Allen Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Davis, and Rodger Keith Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sheral Carter. Boys who now are deacons and will receive1 certificates next Sunday evening are: Kenneth H. Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Gray; Christin Ross Marshall, son THIS WEEK IN MINERSVILLE By MRS. EMILY GILLINS Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jones are parents of their first son, born Sept. 24 and weighing 8 pounds, 14 ounces. The new Mr. Jones has two sisters, Sheila and Jeanie. Ralph Pearson met with a near tragic accident Saturday, September Septem-ber 19, while chopping corn. His pants leg became entangled in a part of the machinery he was operating op-erating and stripped from him were his overalls, parts of his shirt and underwear, and top ends of his shoe laces, the machinery badly bruising and cutting gashes in the lower parts of his legs. He has been in a great deal of pain, caused by the rawness and soreness of the bruises and cuts, but feels grateful to be alive. The quick thinking of his brotherinlaw, Newell Marshall, and his son Raul, who immediately cut the tractor and truck out of action ac-tion when Ralph fell, is responsible for Mr. Pearson not being injured more seriously. The two men were not aware that Ralph had been caught in the machinery only that he had fallen. The injured man has been under a doctor's care but has been able to continue his work. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eyre and sons, Chris, Bryant, and Dean, are happily hap-pily located in their brand-new home. The family made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Eyre while construction was underway. Mr. and Mrs. Don Martin have been in Las Vegas the past several sev-eral weeks so that Mrs. Martin could receive treatment for an ailing ail-ing back. Joe E. Eyre spent the time in Mapleton with Mr. and Mrs. Pat Dotson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tanner of Whittier, Calif., are now living in Milford and Mrs. Tanner is able to spend several days a week in Minersville, Min-ersville, caring for her mother, Mrs. Nellie Eyre, while her husband hus-band is out of town. Ruben Dotson spent several days in the Beaver Valley hospital under un-der observation last week. Norma Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mart Davis, still has employment em-ployment at Grand Canyon National Nation-al Park and has been advanced in position. Sylva, her mother, reports re-ports Norma sent home for a chocolate choc-olate cake and a loaf of home-made bread. The Newell Marshall family held an outing Sunday in t h e Beaver mountains. A delicious hot dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. Don Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Val Bee-son, Bee-son, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Myers,, and their children, the parents, Nancy and Cherrie, and even Tex and Joe, laughingly reported Theo, the mother. Dinner guests at the Lee Marshall Mar-shall home one day this week were Bob Nowers, accompanied by El-. El-. don Ritchie, an uncle to Lynnea, . of Heber City. Mrs. Bessie Pearson celebrated her 69th birthday Sunday, Sept. 27, and was hostess at a nicely appointed ap-pointed dinner to the following: Mr. and Mrs. June Pearson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Robinson, Rob-inson, Mr. and Mrs. George Wood, and Clarence Corbridge. Victor Myers, who underwent major surgery at LDS hospital in Salt Lake City Sept. 22, is reported re-ported doing as well as can be expected ex-pected at this time. He was accompanied accom-panied to Salt Lake City by his daughter Colleen and his sister, Mrs. Cassie McKnight. Mrs. Myers, My-ers, who suffered a broken leg several weeks ago, was unable to accompany him upstate and remained re-mained with her daughter, Mrs. Sam Johnson, is Beaver. Mr. and Mrs. Max Myers and Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Carter took Nettie to Salt Lake City to be near her husband. The other couples returned home Sunday. A n e a r tragedy took place recently re-cently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Carter, when their two-year-old daughter Kayleen fell nine feet to the basement floor through the opening prepared for installation installa-tion of steps in the remodeling project underway at the Carters'. The child was unconscious for an hour, with some bleeding. She was cared for in the home under a doctor's direction and now is doing fine. Noel Wood suffered injury to |
