Show SOVIETS RETURN BANDS The California Department of Fish and Game reports the return from the Russian government of 29 leg bands taken from migratory migra-tory waterfowl . The Soviets have been reporting the recovery of such bands since 1955, but this is the largest number num-ber of bands returned to date. The longest flight made was 4,200 miles. This was by a pintail duck that had been banded at Los Banos in February 1957. It was picked up three months later near Magdlen in Siberia. Two other pintails had made flights of 3,600 miles each. |
