Show Senior Play A Hit By Judy Horton Hilltop Echo Critic On the successive evenings of Dec. 18 and 19, the Class of '53 presented their annual Snior Class Play on the Milford High stage. This year's presentation. "The Importance of Being Earnest," Earn-est," was under the direction ol Mr. Wayne Elton. An important highlight of the play was the clever set arrangements arrange-ments and scenery. An unusual complete set change was made between be-tween the first and second acts; beginning with a lavish and elegantly ele-gantly appointed apartment setting set-ting which changed to a garden scene in the second act The unexpected un-expected change was striking. A second highlight was the well-directed well-directed acting of the entire cast. Nora Ann Walker was quite adequate ade-quate in her role of Gwendolyne and Denny Belliston was very convincing con-vincing and believable playing the part of the ultra-sophisticated Algernon Al-gernon Moncrieff. It appeared that Mary Edwards was inclined to be more concerned with what the audience was doing than with the character she was portraying. Kar-olyn Kar-olyn Blackner suffered from a severe se-vere case of nerves and seemed weakly memorized in some scenes. In ah overall evaluation, the cast did an excellent job. The entire play was an exciting, sparkling comedy. The novel climax contributed con-tributed to a very enjoyable eve. ning. The only "sore spot" of the two performances was the lethargy and apathy shown by the student, body and citizenry of Milford in supporting and attending tire play. It is too bad that their indifference robbed them of a very delightful evening. Roses to the entire production pro-duction staff of the Senior Play and a blackeye to those who lacked the strength to tear themselves them-selves from their TV sets and support sup-port something really worthwhile.. |
