Show BEAVER COUNTY OLDSTERS AND YOUNGSTERS PREPARING FOR ANNUAL YULETIDE OBSERVANCE Beaver County small-fry are ' on their especially good behavior be-havior as they impatiently mark off the passing days on the calender cal-ender and anticipate the arrival of Old Saint Nick on Dec. 25th with his usual bounteous distribution distri-bution of gifts and cheery greetings, greet-ings, and the oldsters are planning plan-ning new ways to delight their young offspring. And the merchants of the county coun-ty are doing their best to assist the parents in selection of gifts for the children, with extra special stocks of Christmas merchandise. In Beaver, every merchant on Main Street is cooperating with the Beaver Booster Club in a special spe-cial Christmas promotion offering "as good or better" bargains than can be obtained in any otner metropolis, met-ropolis, and they are adding dozens : of "spot" prizes Saturday for lucky shoppers. Every store in Beaver has especially stocked their shelves and display counters for this event, and most stores are featuring the additional surprise prizes. A free matinee Saturday afternoon aft-ernoon at the Firmage Theatre in Beaver will feature special showing of films suitable for the children's viewing. Many of the Beaver merchants' featured Christmas items are listed list-ed in a cooperative page in this issue is-sue of The News. The Beaver Christmas features will continue each Saturday until Christmas, with new prizes and new merchandise being offered each week. Jack Davis, Milford City Councilman Coun-cilman in charge of the Christmas observance, announced that the Christmas lights and Main Street decorations would be turned on next Wednesday, Dec. 10, and urged all downtown merchants and business establishments to have thier store fronts lighted and decorated by that time. Various civic organizations, which will be listed next week are cooperating with the city council in sponsoring different features of the Yuletide celebration. The annual an-nual lighting and decorating contest con-test will again be divided into two classifications, Mr. Davis said, with cash prizes in both the busi-iness busi-iness and residential classes. Beaver City also will have separate sep-arate prizes for residential and business classes in their lighting and decorating contest. |
