Show BEAVER COUNTY HOSPITAL 'BELONGS' TO MILFORD CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS (This is the first of a series of articles prepared by members of the Beaver County Hospital Board, which we are publishing to help . acquaint the residents of Beaver County with facts pertaining to the ownership and operation of the Beaver County Hospital). The Milford Valley Memorial Hospital Association Associa-tion is a bona fide corporation, having been incorporated incorpor-ated under the laws of the State of Utah on Feb. 21, 1953. The association is a non-profit corporation and its constituents are the delegates of various civic, charitable, fraternal trade union, social and other organizations or-ganizations of the community. The purpose of the association as cited in the articles of incorporation is to ". . . operate, maintain, and extend or build a hospital in Milford, Utah, for the purpose of promoting the health and physical welfare of the inhabitants inhab-itants of Milford and adjacent area." In the fulfillment of its purposes, pur-poses, as set forth above, the Milford Mil-ford Valley Memorial Hospital Association As-sociation operates the Beaver , County Hospital. It hopes to be able to extend or build a new and better hospital in Milford. The success of the efforts of the Association Asso-ciation to build and maintain a new hospital depends largely on the response it gets from constituent constit-uent organizations. From the member organizations' representatives to the Milford Valley Val-ley Memorial Hospital Association General Board is elected an executive exec-utive board composed of seven members, including a president, vice president, treasurer, and one of the seven members must include a member from the South Milford area and one from Minersville The secretary of the executive board is appointed toy them to serve without salary and is entitled en-titled to vote only in the absence of one of the executive board members. The superintendent of the hospital hos-pital is selected by the executive board and reports to them on the business and operation of the hospital. hos-pital. By action of the general board, on February 21, 1957, each year the two members who have served longest are relaced by two new board members At the same time a ruling was made that former members of the board of directors must wait two years before they could again serve in that capacity. It was felt that this would give continuity to the board at the same time new members with new ideas were coming into the organization. Present executive board members mem-bers are: E. L. Smith, president; H. L. Tolley, vice president; W. J. Wunderlich, treasurer; V. C. Davis, Da-vis, secretary, and members, Mrs. . " George Jefferson, Frank Pryor, Mrs. Harold Cline, and Gordon Bradshaw. The present hospital building was constructed 30 years ago by Dr. C. R. Parrish, then a young physician in Milford. His intentions inten-tions at that time were to use it for both residential and hospital purposes, and eventually use it completely for his residence and to erect another hospital building. His hopes were not realized and thru the years it was operated as a combination residence - hospital until August, 1950, when Dr. E. N. V , Davie, then owner, converted the ' entire building to hospital pur poses, enlarging the capacity to 18 beds, four bassinets, and one six-year six-year crib.
