Show lilfoid City Council. ! Gentlemen: j As a citizen and taxpayer of Milford, I think ail j the citizens of Milford should know the following j facts in regard:- to the selling of City Park property, first, I feel that in all fairness to the people, a hearing should be held and the people should know of any sales planned by the City Council. After all this property prop-erty belongs to all the people of Milford and they shoulct have a voice in the selling of it. If a sale should be made, it should be put up for sale to the highest bidder and this would also clear the board from criticism. criti-cism. Personally I am not for selling biggest mistakes, any City Parks. I know anyone Personally I was told that this will buy a bargain or even pay sale-as made at a special meeting more to get certain property that and not on a regular meeting night might better his intersets. I have and that few people knew of it. 1 no criticism on this, and aim sure know people that have offered to no one else has. This is whtat buy this property of late and was builds a better town. Milord has told it was not fro sale, also people plenty of good property that can that would have paid much more be had to star any new enterprise for this property. Furthermore, I without destroying its parks and ask board members a year or future parking which they now more ago if this property was go-have go-have close to the business district, ling to 'foe sold and was informed I am sure time will prove to the to the contrary, 'business men and the people of When will our park selling end, Milford that selling any of the and where will the next sale be ? J park property joining the business think the people should know, district which could be avoided Yours truly, now, will be one of the Council's GENE KIRK. Dear Steve : A news item in your paper last week I believe deserves. de-serves. comment as it points out a growing problem over the entire state. . An intensive program of cooperation co-operation between the sportsmen and the farmer is a must if we are to preserve our bird hunting as we now know it. Some time ago a partial solution was found in the formation of the Triangle Committee which, consists of the farmer, the sportsman, and the Fish and Game Department. To make this work everyone has to cooperate and if the sportsmen are going to preserve pre-serve the privilege of hunting on the farmers' land they are going to have to police their own ranks. Before next season the Milford Wildlife wants to get together with the farmers of this area and work out a system of signs. Colorado Colo-rado has such a system and it works like this; Before the season a committee calls on the farmers and offers them a choice of three signs, a red one which says "No Hunting"; a yellow which says "Hunting by Permission Only", and the other is green and says "Hunters Welcome." Wel-come." What was noticeable about the plan was that after the first year fate farmers chose 25 the red signs, 25 th eyellow, and 50 the green. At the State Federation convention con-vention it was brought out that 90 of the damage, vandalism and harrassment was perpetrated by 10 of the hunters. ( It might also be helpful if no one claimed stock shot unless it is definitely established. W. S. BOLTON, Sec. Milford Wildlife Protective Ass'n. |
