Show Voters Choose General Election Candidates; Democrat Vote Heavy In Beaver County and Statewide Lee R. Fillmore, candi- date for the Democratic nomination for Beaver County Sheriff, received 681 votes to lead both tickets as he defeated J. Reed Edwards Ed-wards for the nomination. Frank E. (Ted) Moss, Democratic candidate for U. S. Senator, was second high with 602 against Brig-ham Brig-ham E. Roberts (288), and Mr. Moss also won the state election and will oppose incumbent Arthur V. Wat-kins Wat-kins in the November election. elec-tion. Senator Watkins defeated de-feated Carvel Mattsson, on the Republicjn side. In Beaver Bea-ver County the vote was 230 to 139. Closest race in the county coun-ty saw Ray R. Easton win the Democratic nomination for county commissioner from incumbent J. Frank Smith, 485 to 416. In other county races, Howard P r y o r defeated AVilford Robinson, 536 to 374, for the 2-year county commissioner nomination on the Democratic ticket; and on the Republican side of the ballot Karl Truman, Minersville, polled 241 votes to Eugene Mayer's (Milford) (Mil-ford) 130, and Lewis J. Stewart (South Milford) de- feated Warr.en Thompson (Beaver) 207 to 155 for the Republican nomination for Sheriff. Mark Paxton, Fillmore, won the Republican nomination nomi-nation for state senator from Waldo G. Robins, of Scipio. The Beaver County Coun-ty vote was Paxton 495, to 346 for Robins.
