Show TV BARBECUE RAISES FUNDS ' FOR CHANNEL 4 More than 800 hungry per-, per-, sons swarmed into Bailey's Canyon east of Milford last Sunday to enjoy an outdoor barbecue dinner and hel'i raise funds for bringing Channel 4 television to Milford. A steady stream of men, women and children kept the meal cutters and servers busy from 2 p. m. until after 8 p. m., exhausting the pit-barbecued meat and all available roasted meat and cold cuts that could be obtained in Milford. Advance sale of tickets was about 600, and the barbecue committee com-mittee had prepared for 750, but scores of ticket holders had purchased pur-chased only tickets for themselves or the adults of the family, and purchased additional tickets at the barbecue site for children or guests, which caused the shortage of 'food. Bill Wunderlich, treasurer of the benefit, reported total proceeds pro-ceeds of $8S8; expenses amounted amount-ed to $198.70, and the remain- ing $(i(9.30 has been deposited in the Milford State Bank, earmarked ear-marked for installation of Channel Chan-nel 4 equipment. Baine Matheson, with the assistance as-sistance of Floyd Bedingfield and Charles Posey, worked from Friday Fri-day evening until Sunday afternoon after-noon preparing the barbecue, and the meat served was so delicious that scores of persons asked that it "be done over again." The TV committee is considering consider-ing building barbecue pits at the Milford Fairgrounds and staging a benefit barbecue as an annual event to defray costs of operation of the television system. Ladies of the E S A Sorority handled advance sale of tickets, ladies' organizations prepared and served potato salad and baked m beans with the repast, and Harry Garfield, Shirl Feller and Lorin Hutchings were the meat cutters and servers. . |
